Whoreders

I've started my job at Borders and so far I've had one eight hour Saturgay of booklet reading with a customer service manager Creamboat (he is super-dreamy) and one eight hour shift (today) where we learnt registers and then relearnt registers with real customers.

It was scary at first as I normally avoid talking to people other than hurling the occaisional obscenity while walking past them in the streets. Also when I get flustered I tend to slap the keyboard angrily. But after about two hours the smile and the thank yous came pretty natural and I didnt even have to perform any abortions (transaction abortions or the other kind) at all the whole time. One ancient old man even told me he would certainly be coming back, which I took to mean that he liked the cut of my jib.

We had to convince people to sign up for the Borders newsletter and my performance was spectacular, there was equal amounts of rocking and rolling. Plus everyone seems pretty nice. The only really bad thing that happened is I now have the worst fucking headache and of course I'm sitting at the computer.
