Novel Idea

I started writing my story finally. I'm not really sure how good it is, I struggle a lot with pacing. I can tell you that I want something to happen further down the line and I want events to slowly unravel but I'm just not that good at filling out a story with things that slow down said unravelling.

I think the important thing at the moment is that I’m actually writing a narrative and enjoying it. I’ve written three thousand five hundred words in the last two days which doesn’t include an introduction I wrote a while back. Apparently to be a writer you need to write two hundred and fifty words a day so I've just written two weeks worth of material right there. On a less self-congratulatory note I’m attempting my own personal Nanowrimo. I'm a bit late for the real thing, but there's nothing to stop me from trying to write fifty thousand words over one month. That's about one thousand five hundred words a day which puts me slightly ahead of schedule. Although this weekend is really going to set me back.

Every now and then I'll probably share a few of my favourite lines with you:
Danny was sitting at the kitchen table alternating between eating weetbix and smoking a cigarette. He was wearing a filthy singlet which could only be described as formerly white and currently disgusting.
Hope you enjoy it and hopefully I'll be able to keep up some momentum. I expect this novel to be longer than fifty thousand words but I think that's definitely a good target to aim for right now.

Hi,
I saw your comic on maddox and decided to give your blog a look. If you're interested in writing, here´s some sites you should check out.
www.spoiledink.com: you can post stories there and get some feedback.
www.zoetrope.com: you´re required to write reviews for five stories for every story you post. Kind of fun, for a couple months anyway.

My web page.
Cheers,

As someone who has no aspirations to write, I'll keep this short... Maddox? You? *thumbs up*

(To get the full effect, imagine me nodding as well)

Congrats on the whole maddox comic thing. I would have posted this down where you said you were drawing something for maddox but then you probably wouldn't have seen it.

Hey, cute comic on Maddox's site (I wasn't sure where to post this). And I'm bookmarking your blog--you're pretty damn amusing. I just thought I'd let you know, 'cause I think it's creepy if there are random people reading MY blog and lurking around without leaving a trace.

I appreciate all the nice comments. I like to pretend I do this for myself but people saying they like what I do makes me want to do more, so clearly I'm in it for the recognition.

Also, I know so very little about the internets and this bandwidth you speak of but seeing as I don't pay for hosting (I get it free from blogger) I don't think I need to worry about my bandwidth dying prematurely do I?

I'll ask Bump when I see him.
