Carn the Blues

The soccer was pretty good yesterday. There were a few hiccoughs along the way, we arrived maybe almost an hour early and didn't get in to the stadium till just before kick off. Unfortunately when we got to our seats we couldn't even see the kick off anyway. Chun was told we would be sitting in the front row just behind the corner flag. They didn't mention anything to him about the huge, view-obstructing barrier that protects the photographers and their equipment and ruins the game for everyone else stuck behind it. In the end we found a good spot to stand higher up, where we could see the whole game and it was all good.

In the first half the Mariners were killing Sydney's defence and making them look very foolish but fortunately for us they suck in front of goal. One Mariners player was running in on goal and suffered a major brain-fart and instead of shooting he tried to pass the ball but there was no one to pass to. In the second half Sydney looked a lot better and Dwight Yorke made a few runs. It was on one such attack that he employed his favourite tactic: the shimmy. The Mariners players were shitting themselves and instead of tackling him they just held off. Yorke offloaded straight to a Sydney player who cracked it first time and gave Sydney the winning goal.

It really wasn't the best game ever but we won so who cares right? One of the things about watching the A League is that they are better than the State League and the local premier league teams, but they don't look it. Still the more support soccer gets the better the competition will get.

I'm looking forward to indoor tonight, gonna get my Ninja on.
