Continuing in my theme of watching television, I experienced "Die Hard" for the first time tonight. As far as action movies go it was alright, but then action movies have never really been my thing. Aside from my usual pedantic criticisms of the plot I found one thing particularly noteworthy. The sympathetic sergeant, Al, tells Bruce Willis about how he came to work behind a desk instead of "on the beat". Apparently one night while out on a patrol Al shot a young boy who was holding a toy gun. Since then he hasn't been able to wield a gun without hesitating. But during the last minutes of the film (I hope I'm not ruining it for you) Al manages to take down a bad guy with his revolver. He overcomes his crippling anxiety and learns to kill again! How touching.
I've also been watching series one of scrubs on dvd and found it very enjoyable thus far. The dialogue, characters and plots are all really well done, particularly the surreal elements of the show. So far I've only watched one of four discs but I have a feeling that situation will be rectified by this time tomorrow.
On an entirely non-televised note, my shuffle will soon be christened Milhouse. I just need to find some Podparents for the little guy. I recognise that I may have just exposed you to possibly the worst pun ever. Have mercy, I beg you...
