Angelus

I always liked Buffy on principle. The show was funny, intelligent and well written. It had magix, fighting and the undead. Seriously, pedigree much? Although my love of Whedon borders on the quietly religious I confess I lapsed in my duties at times. For one I haven't seen every episode of Buffy ever, in fact I've probably missed quite a lot. But secondly I never really took to Angel, mainly because Angel is (was?) a pretty boring character. Ok so he broods. And does some more brooding. He can never be totally happy. And even when they win he's like "Well I'm like one step closer to never finishing my relentless fight against evil." But series four, what I caught of it, was pretty damn cool. The cast around Angel is very enjoyable and the bizarre roller coaster plotline was fun to watch as well. But for the last two days I've been watching series five. It reminds me what I loved so much about the last season or two of Buffy. Spike. It's a pity Whedon didn't just ditch Angel and make "The all about Spike show" like I suggested. The least He could do is answer my letters.

Anyway season five of Angel is good, but not as good as Firefly. If you haven't seen the series go watch it (the box set is out) and then buy the movie on dvd (when it comes out - because you'd struggle to buy it before it came out). It's a sci-fi meets western with good dialogue, engaging characters and storylines (gimme a break it's like 3am and I'm tired).
