Moving Pictures

I would've posted something earlier but my aunt was around and we were hanging out and she slept in the computer room so I couldn't blog late at night. In any case I'm back now and I really like watching movies. I'm not as much of a freak about them as Benjam but that's mostly because I don't have a lot of money to go to the movies. We watched two dvd's on Frigay night Ong-Bak and Napolean Dynamite (more like Na-hole-ian Dyna-shite).

If you like Jackie Chan or Bruce/Jet Lee then I reckon Ong-Bak is totally worth checking out. It's a martial arts film from thailand with a decent story and some very awesome fight scenes and stunts. The style of fighting is really different from Chan and Lee films because it's all Thai Boxing which means a lot of knees and elbows and man was it sweet. It's worth watching purely for the final fight scene. I creamed.

Napolean Dynamite wasn't exactly a dissapointment because it was heaps funny, it just wasn't... a film. Gosh. There are many amusing scenes and some real sidesplitters but the plot is pretty weak. It wouldn't be such an issue if people hadn't compared this film to Garden State. I liked Napolean Dynamite but Garden State took a great big steaming dump all over it. Garden State is funnier, has better music, an awesome story and a sweet cast.

Last night I watched Robots, the Disney movie, with my Aunt. I have a soft spot for Disney movies, I haven't seen them all but I've seen most of the big ones, and I like the way that the old Disney classics have been taken over by Pixar. Robots was decent, it started off well with the making of a baby, and overall it had a few laughs. It just didn't have the same magic of the earlier Disney films like Lion King and Aladdin. I guess that magic has made it's way to Pixar instead.
