Flinging Mud

For those who don't know a mud is a multi-user dungeon. Basically it's like a roleplay game (think Dungeons and Dragons) for the internets. They're a relic from back in the days when people still had imaginations, which means they don't have any pictures. All text. This can turn some people away but that's ok because we wouldn't want to play with those people anyway.

I have some immersion into the roleplay thing mostly through my older brother and I have seen him play a few different muds but I've never actually gotten into one myself. Part of the reason is because there's just so much information and it's not very clearly disseminated and that shits me. There's a lot of boring things you have to read that don't even give you all the information you need. People tend to get bored of hearing questions from n00bz, which doesn't help me as I'm out of the newbie stage and I'm still asking questions. All the time. Not to mention it makes you feel dumb that you have to ask question after question. So you don't and so much time is wasted, and occaisionally someone tells you something and it helps dramatically and you wish you could just ask questions all the time.

But now that I'm moderately in it. I'm enjoying the game. Imperian is somewhat limited as a game and I'm not really sure how much longer I'll still be playing it for but at the moment I'm enjoying it so I see no reason to stop. It's tempting to think "where is this going? what will I have achieved at the end of all this?" The answer is like all games, "Jack-shit. " But don't let that deter you, just enjoy wasting away countless hours. And ignore the voice of reason.

I'll try and start on the comic tonight if I'm not off questing.

Vampire: The Masquerade is a complicated, but massively versatile as a text-based RPG. Not nearly as limited as the graphics-endowed gaming engine of the same title.
