Speaking of Webcomics

Scott Kurtz has spat the dummy again. Seems someone has been bitching about how he got invited to Blizzcon along with Gabe and Tycho. I don't really know who he's talking about since I don't read that many webcomics (makes me wish Webcomic vs Webcomic was still updating). While I think it's fair for Kurtz to respond to criticism, and he's understandably annoyed at being criticised, I think he may have overreacted.

He criticised the enemy "web-cartoonists" art and writing skills. Which to me doesn't really seem to be the issue here. Kurtz got invited to Blizzcon because of his guild, Panda Attack, and their battles against PA's Knights of Arcadia. Although Kurtz's guild is an extension of his webcomic and filled with his fans, and the battles were such a big deal because of the size of the fan-base of both comics, I don't think Blizzards invitation really had much of anything to do with how well Scott can draw.

Scott can get a little bit upset by criticism, which I guess is fair enough. But I'd like to say, "You can afford to ignore it. You have a very popular webcomic, from which you make a living and you're the one going to Blizzcon. Does it really matter what they say about you?"

Ah, although Scott does have a larger influence on the web-comic community, its just funny to watch him make his proverbial swing at this "web-cartoonest" whoever it may be.
